It’s not just humans who can benefit from a dose of Humourology in their lives.
Paul has recently been approached by the management team at Richmond Park after rangers noticed some strange and worrying behaviour in the local deer population.
Concerns have been raised particularly around rising anxiety levels – most notably amongst the male stags. This behaviour is thought to be linked to increasingly negative human interactions, including visitors attempting selfies and feeding them sandwiches and crisps.
In an attempt to support the deer and help restore balance, Paul will be spending several weeks in the park, running specially tailored workshops designed to bring a little light relief and learning to the herd.

Sessions include:
Harem Management for Young Bucks – Leading the herd with humour and humility
Vocal Coaching – Techniques for a deeper, more resonant bellow – Be heard from Bushy Park to Wimbledon Common and strike fear into the hearts of cyclists on their daily commute.
Antlers – Why is it Always About Size? – Exploring new ways to measure up against the big boys.
The Rut – Exerting your dominance without falling into the toxic masculinity trap
To conclude the programme, the deer will be invited to take part in a selection of light-hearted activities and games:
- Tic
- Splat the Squirrel (no real squirrels involved)
- Antler Hoopla
- The Loudest Bellow Competition
- Easter Bonnet Antler Decorating Workshop
- Followed by a Grand Finale Easter Bonnet Antler Parade

It’s hoped that by introducing some playful activities alongside practical support, the deer will be better equipped to deal with the demands of park life and the pressures of the picnicking public while reminding park visitors that these beautiful animals are wild and need to be given the space to stay wild.
See you next Tuesday.
Warmest,
Paul x
