When we compound the magic of the holidays with the magic of laughter, we can all find the joy we deserve.
The holiday season is just around the corner and I just wanted to thank you for supporting me and Humourology over the past 12 months. This has been a wonderful year but not without tears. The great thing about having a Humourology attitude is that we use the gift of laughter to get us through whatever life throws at us – good or bad.
For many, this is the season of joy. Of laughing with those we love and forgiving those who need it most. This journey that Humourology has taken me on has shown me just how important a masterful sense of humour can be during the holiday season.
When the hustle and bustle of the holidays fills your plate, humour is the fork that helps sort the sprouts from the roast potatoes. Taking time to share smiles with those we love and more importantly, with total strangers. Much like humour, the holiday season can act as a catalyst for human connection. When we compound the magic of the holidays with the magic of laughter, we can all find the joy we deserve after a challenging year.
I am sure that some people wonder why I persist with creating a new personalised Holiday card every year. Well, firstly I love tradition and it allows me to reach out to family, friends, and clients to connect around Christmas. Secondly, I love the fact that it is something that my son Sam and I can create together and share every year. Thirdly, many people tell me that they still look forward to receiving the card as it brings a smile to their faces. As the late Victor Borge said, “The shortest distance between two people is a smile”.
Finally, it is my small way of saying that I genuinely appreciate our connection which is fueled by learning, love, and laughter. I am beyond grateful that I get to spend my days connecting with others and building relationships that are bolstered by a mutual appreciation of mirth and the human mind.
I hope that this year’s card will bring you a small smile or a little laughter but most importantly lots of love and luck as we move into the hopeful, happy and humour-filled 366 days of 2024.
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” – Charlie Chaplin
See you next year.
